Nama Vitality 5800 Cold Press Juicer

Nama as a brand was inspired by the health journey of its founder, Dan Sheehan, and eventually brought to fruition after he met and became friends with famous juicing aficionado Joe Cross who has helped with the product development. Nama’s mission is much more than just selling you a product. Their aim is to enable more and more people to make better choices, by providing the tools and encouraging the rituals that lead to optimal health. We feel very strongly that enabling better health outcomes is one of the more important themes of our mission too, because UK Juicers™ founder Nick Ledger started our brand for similar reasons – overcoming ill health through juicing and diet – which makes both the Nama Juicer and the Nama philosophy of helping people improve their health a great fit for us.

There are two Korean cold press juicer manufacturers who lead the world when it comes to technology and performance. Nama have partnered with one of them, Hurom, to develop the Nama Vitality 5800 Cold Press juicer. Working closely with the factory they have come up with a custom motor torque profile that makes it easier for the juicer to cope with whole carrots and sticks of celery, so that our usual recommendation to chop these ingredients first no longer applies, saving you time with the juicing process. With an optimal 43rpm turning speed on the auger, juicing is still surprisingly quick and the quality and quantity of juice produced is simply outstanding. Because there is very little chance for oxygen to mix in the juice, it can be kept for a few days in the fridge without losing the abundant micronutrients.

With other juicers, additional accessories like the large hole smoothie screen and homogenising blank are often sold as optional extras. Given that these are included and taking into account the ingredient savings over time because of the Nama’s extremely efficient extraction rate, although it’s not cheap, the Nama is very attractively priced. By saving on the waste that less efficient juicers create, we are confident that the initial outlay will be recouped many times in the lifespan of this excellent juicer. That extraction efficiency gives a juice that is deep in colour, rich in flavour, and teeming with micronutrients. Because the Nama gives one of the smoothest and most pulp free juices, those nutrients are quickly and easily absorbed by the body, giving you a superdose of vitality every time you juice.

The versatility to make nut milks, nut butters, frozen desserts, smoothies and other recipes adds to the health enhancing capability that the Nama brings to your kitchen. These are all easily brought into play by switching screens in the juicer and there’s an additional pulp lever on the bowl that even allows you to select between two thickness levels for smoothies. In conjunction with the juice cap, this lever also facilitates an automatic ‘pre-wash’ cycle after juicing. You simply fill the juice bowl with water with the cap closed and the pulp lever open and cycle the juicer for a few dozen turns to clear out most of the pulp. This turns cleaning of the screen afterwards – often the most annoying part of juicer cleaning – from a chore into a pleasure, putting the Nama at the top of the class for painless cleanup too.

The dual feed hopper is child friendly, making it easy to encourage healthy habits from a very young age by introducing kids to the magical process of turning solid fruits and veg into liquid! The tray feed part makes it easy to feed in fiddly small items like nuts when making nut milk, or when juicing berries or cut fruit segments (we recommend the large hole smoothie screen for juicing softer fruits like berries).
