The so-called Cold Spin Technology™ in the Nutri Juicer Cold Plus is claimed to keep the juice cooler to prevent nutrient degradation. They’ve shoe-horned this ‘cold’ idea into the product name because of the long since debunked claim made by some people that centrifugal juicers ‘destroy nutrients with heat’. It’s never been true that heat build up in a centrifugal juicer has been significant enough to harm nutrients and as far as we are concerned, the Nutri Juicer ‘Cold’ range from Sage (part of the Breville group) is no different to most other brands in that regard. However, we’ll forgive them the marketing hype, because like the rest of their centrifugal juicers, their mid-priced Nutri Juicer Cold Plus model has a lot to offer. The new BJE330 is the replacement for the old Nutri Juicer Plus BJE520. We doubt that it has any more ‘cooling’ function when juicing than any other Sage centrifugal juicer, but it has bags of power and excellent performance.
The powerful two speed motor is just as effective as the most expensive model although it has less control with two speeds instead of five. That’s not a big negative for us, as most of the time having five speed settings won’t make much of a difference. There’s a further cost saving that they’ve achieved by using a brushed stainless steel sleeve around the juicer base instead of solid die cast metal construction, and again, this is not a feature that most people will miss. With the same huge 88mm wide feed chute as the more expensive model juicing is equally rapid and a material change from stainless to BPA free plastic means that the top parts also contribute to the big price gap between this and the top of the range model. The sealed 2 litre jug allows easy storage of a batch of juice and the high quality Italian stainless steel filter basket makes clean up time much more painless than many of the competing brands available. All in all, another great juicer from the Breville Group.
