Suitable for use in restaurants, raw food cafes and any small scale commercial dry food preparation from fruit leathers to dog treats, the Excalibur EXC10EL is also ideal for the discerning health enthusiast who is looking for the best possible dehydrator for their home. As a genuine American made model, its nowhere near as cheap as some of the stainless models coming out of China these days but the quality is exceptional, as with other American products that offer the assurance of the stringent NSF food safety approval mark.
This exceptional food dehydrator offers the largest capacity in our range and the additional reassurance of the food hygiene standards associated with the use of high quality stainless steel. Even drying without tray rotation is a widely recognised feature of the Excalibur air flow technology that is employed in all their dehydrators so you can set it and forget it knowing the results will be consistent every time. If you want to check the progress, the toughened glass doors allow easy visibility without the need to open the doors and cause heat loss mid cycle.
Unlike some dehydrators, the Excalibur offers the reassurance of temperatures high enough to safely dry meat products like Jerky, while at the same time offering a range of enzyme friendly lower temperatures for various raw food drying tasks. The precise digital control allows you to stage two timer periods at different temperatures which is a popular technique for destroying any bacteria in the early stage of drying and then lowering the temperature for the second stage to preserve the original flavour and nutrition without cooking. If you simply want the best that money can buy, The Excalibur EXC10EL Stainless 10 Tray Dehydrator should definitely be on your wish list.
Good solid machine
I have been putting this machine through its paces for the last 4 months and it is doing a great job. It’s expensive but I’m hoping it will be worth the investment as I’m running it 12-15 nearly every day.
It’s simple to use and considering its size not overly noisy
My reason for four stars is I have a real issue with the trays. They frequently fall from their ridges in the machine when putting them in. For me this a big problem as it ruins the shaped pet treats I make sitting on the shelf below. If it wasn’t for this it would be a perfect dehydrator.

Pricy but worth it
Ok, let’s get the bad part out of the way first…. Yes it is quite pricy…
But worth it, I kept going back and forth between this one and the RES10 and 1 or 2 Sedonas but glad I spent the extra money in the end and got all stainless steel inside out and the extra few square feet out shelf drying space.
None of the turning the rack for even drying is needed with this one, it fill it up and set the timer and let it do its thing and that’s it.
It looks quite smart in the kitchen too.
If you’re even half serious about dehydrating and making you own healthy snacks this is a good buy, you won’t regret having spent the extra couple of hundreds once it’s in the door even if it does hurt a little placing the order but quality costs sometimes 🙂

Have had this dehydrator for a few years now. When the electric prices went.up, I stopped using this and bought a lower wattage dehydrator as I dehydrate a lot daily for myself as a raw vegan and for my dogs.
I dehydrate liver and turkey for my dogs and over the summer, it is highly frustrating that flies are attracted to the smell and can actually get into the dehydrator as there is a gap by the doors. I chose a smaller metal dehydrator that has a fully closed door with vents that the flies do not attempt to get into. It is a shame as this Excalibur dehydrator is large and can hold a lot and I have all the relevant accessories for it. I haven’t used this for months now over a smaller closed metal dehydrator and I do miss the space and 10 trays. I may try to find a way back and build an easy accessible “cage” where flies are unable to get in and which I can easily access to get to the trays.
